Daystate Wolverine .303 Review
Finally had a chance to take this beast of a gun out for a little range time. Have to say I have been overwhelmingly pleased with the Wolverine so far. The trigger is typical Daystate, two stage with just about a pound of let off on the second stage. Lets start with a chrony string.
Recommended Fill pressure is 250 Bar or 3625 PSI. I could only fill to 3500 due to my tank being low. Chrony used F-1 Chronograph set 6 feet out from muzzle Pellet, since its the only currently available JSB Emperor 50.15 grain, un sorted 1. 924 2. 922 3. 925 4. 926 5. 926 6. 922 7. 919 8. 910 9. 906 10. 894 Low 894 FPS 89 FPE High 926 FPS 95.5 FPE Ave 917 FPS 93.6 FPE Spread 31 FPS I did a quick sight in at about 20 yards and then moved it out to 40 yards. Here is that 5 shot group at 40 yards. Just under 1/2" . There were roughly 5-8 mph cross winds. http://www.airgunsforum.com/picture....&pictureid=305 The winds had died down a little, maybe 2-5 mph cross winds so I stretched it out to 70 yards. Here is that 3 shot group of .407" Why 3 shots ? Well the temps were taking a deep dive into the low 40's and with the wind chill we were well in to the 30's. My hands were freezing and I could hardly feel them any more. http://www.airgunsforum.com/picture....&pictureid=306 A couple of things I will note about the Wolverine. It has a quite loud report. This gun is definitely not backyard friendly. It also has quite the kick, yes !, thats right, a PCP air gun that has a recoil ! With 95 Foot pounds of energy that is to be expected. I did all of this shooting session using a shooters ridge bag with a rear rest bag. I like to fancy myself as somewhat of an amateur bench rest shooter. With all of my other PCP guns I have always been taught to hold the gun as lightly as possible. Well that just does not work with this Daystate. Its a bit like shooting a magnum powered springer that has a nasty muzzle flip. Its gonna take me some getting used to along with altering of my shooting position/hold but I think the Wolverine has some real potential out to 100 plus yards. If you made it this far I will leave you folks with some eye candy. http://www.airgunsforum.com/picture....&pictureid=278 http://www.airgunsforum.com/picture....&pictureid=277 Thanks for reading, please check back in for more reports on this fantastic gun in the near future ! Only thing nicer than the pictures of the gun were the groups. Very nice shooting, pics appreciated. I'm just amazed at how accurate that thing is.
