Default Condor SS .257 with 18" barrel

18" Condor SS .257 conversion

I did valve porting and relived the spring clearance on the spring seat just enough so the valve can open all the way. Return spring is stock. Stock tank and 18" .257 barrel from RL airguns. I added a carbon fiber bottle.

Set ups

1. with stock hammer and stock weight and added weight 23grams.I was at 84 grams with stock spring.

I got a peak power of 100 FPE on max 60gr bullet or 80gr bullet PW max

Added 18lb spring and 99gram Hammer gained 20-30 FPS and a bit more FPE 108
POWER I got more power with less spring tension. think max power is PW 3-4

2 CF tank with stock modded valve. I ported valve and rounded and polished poppet. Polished valve stem and drilled out/recessed valve return spring seat for TH clearance to bottom out.

3800 fill pw 0 for 7 shots 916,905,890,878,868,854,823 TANK DUMP!

Took valve apart and got a longer return spring 3/8th .045wire, Had to drill out spring seat to drill out made spring longer and checked for coil bind and TH clearance. TH is able to Just bottom out right at coil bind.

3400 fill pw 0 10 shots total no dump 80psi per shot 854,844,842,841,842,841,835,823

PW 0 60gr 3800 fill 869,868,865,861,856 3800 fill

PW4 3400 fill 869,862,851

PW0 3400 fill 60gr 854,854,850,848,850,836,832

PW6 60gr 3800 fill 889,874,865
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I did prep the RL barrel I use lapping compound and lapped with 280grit,600grit, and ended with 1200 grit barrel looks nice

I started to do some accuracy testing. So far its pretty decent. I am getting quarter sized groups at 60yrds if I try hard and 1.5" groups if I don't try to hard.

The rifle is reasonably quite in my opionion. ITs lite and fun to shoot.

Always liked that idea of the 18" barrel. Good work on the build and know who to talk to when the time comes for me to get into the .257

I think posting here is more than sufficient. But more over the owner of TAG is not my kind of people. The customer service that I and others have received was worse than PATHETIC so I wont support people like that.

Default 18" ss update

So I went to a Dyotat valve and am now shooting Lyman mold 420 73gr I am currently running them at 930,920,910 with the 115gr dyotat hammer and valve. accuracy is decent at 50 yrds I see groups in less than a inch. at 75 yrds and running a inch or so. This gun is for hunting not target shooting. I am sure I can greatly improve the groups by adding barrel weight to the gun as it really lite. So that allows for a pretty decent amount of barrel flip. I went to the 420 mold do to the 60gr arsenal mold was not grouping well at higher speeds. I am plenty happy with the performance now. She barks and puts the smack down easy to carry and handle in the woods. Nice and lite as well. Hard pressed to find this kind of power in a compact set up as such. I am filling to 3400 psi and refilling at 2900 according to my gauges.
